Extractions & Wisdom Teeth, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Dentist

What is a Tooth Extraction?

A tooth extraction is a dental procedure in which a tooth is carefully removed from its socket in the jawbone. While preserving your natural teeth is always our priority, there are situations where extraction is the best option to protect your overall oral health.

Tooth extractions are typically recommended when a tooth is too damaged to be restored with treatments such as fillings, crowns, or root canal therapy. In some cases, teeth may also need to be removed to prepare the mouth for orthodontic treatment, dental implants, or dentures.

At Clinique Dentaire Nicolas Beaudoin & Associée, we will always discuss your options with you and recommend extraction only when it is truly necessary. We are committed to making the procedure as smooth and stress-free as possible while helping you maintain a healthy, functional smile.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to erupt in the back corners of a normal adult mouth, usually between 17 and 25 years of age.

This third set of teeth is not always functional, and can crowd out other teeth as they develop. They may also create problems with maintaining good oral hygiene. In these cases, your dentist may recommend removing them.

Repairing Excessive Damage

In most cases, your dentist will work to save a tooth whenever possible. However, there are circumstances, such as injury, gum disease, fractures below the gum line, or excessive decay, which may require extraction.

If you have a tooth that needs to be extracted, your dentist will discuss tooth replacement options with you, which may include dental bridges, implants, and dentures.
